I say the same thing every Dec. 31: This was my most pivotal year of my life.
I finished digging out of $100,000 in debt, celebrated my third year as a professional photojournalist, joined a new photo staff and grew stronger friendships.
But the most notable change was watching many of my dear colleagues move on from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. To be honest it felt isolating, as I looked up to them like photojournalism superheroes or rockstars. They're what I want to be like when I grow up.
With 2017 barging in without knocking, it can be easy to mentally close the door and reminisce of what things were like. Thankfully we are forced to keep moving through time, space, obstacles, challenges and opportunities.
This year I resolve to move through entrances, not exits.
